Overcoming Fear of Failure

In this week’s tennis psychology podcast, mental game of tennis expert, Dr. Patrick Cohn answers a question from a tennis player who says:

“Currently I have been developing a new technique in my table tennis reverse backhand stroke.  During training my coach says that my shots are near perfect and my consistency is very high. Sometimes I don’t even miss a shot. However when It comes to playing in a match I am unable to utilize this stroke. We found out that I kept thinking of the stroke and afraid of missing. I am a very consistent player and don’t like making errors. Any tips?”
